Mortal Kombat came packed with the familiar references from the Mortal Kombat games. It was action-packed with some great fight scenes throughout. There were lots of violence, bloodshed, and even a few fatalities during the course of the film.
But the best references were the characters from the original games. Mortal Kombat wouldn’t be complete without its list of colorful fighters that come with their own unique power (or in this sense, ‘arcana’). The fighters were all amazing, arcana and all.
Here were all of the characters from the Mortal Kombat movie from the game:
Raiden
Raiden was known as ‘Lord Raiden’ in the film, god of thunder.
Sonya Blade
Sonya Blade is one of the few female fighters in the game.
Jax
Jax is most known for his metal bionic arms, which he also gets in the movie as well.
Kano
Kano is most known for being an enemy of Sonya and Jax of the Special Forces.
Sub-Zero
One of the most prominent fighters of the game, Sub-Zero, made quite an appearance in the film.
Scorpion
Scorpion appears later in the film as the undead ninja seeking revenge for his death.
Liu Kang
Most notable for shooting fireballs, Liu Kang allied with Cole and the gang in the film to fight against their enemies.
Kung Lao
Liu’s cousin Kung Lao (and his famous hat) also appear in the film. He also does his signature fatality where he slides his opponent into the sliding hat.
Kabal
Known as one of the most powerful characters in the game, Kabal proved to be quite powerful in the film too.
Mileena
One of the most psychotic characters in the game, Mileena, allied with the craziest set of fighters.
Goro
Goro first appeared as the fighter you defeat before you face Shang Tsung. He came out swinging in the film, with all four arms.
Shang Tsung
Shang Tsung is the final boss in the Mortal Kombat games. He is a powerful warlock who absorbs the living souls in order to maintain his youth and power.
Johnny Cage
While he didn’t exactly appear in the film, Johnny Cage was briefly mentioned in the last scene.
