I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish Church, by the Roman Church, by the Greek Church, by the Turkish Church, by the Protestant Church, nor by any Church that I know of. My own mind is my own Church.

Final Thoughts Before July 1st

Image result for Summer

As we enter the last Friday of June, we quickly realize that July is approaching.  Summer has been the key phrase in many of the past post these days.  Another month of summer means more outdoor event happening all across cities.  This the time for more leisure, taking time away from the work week to enjoy the outdoors.

But if anything, July marks one special thing – recreational cannabis dispensaries opening in the state of Massachusetts.  Even in the dog days of summer, this will be one mystery that will be played out over the next few months.

What will this recreational market look like? Will there be a shift within the marketing curve happening in the near future?  If so, could this lead towards the favor of the cannabis industry?

Who knows how this industry will play out.  It will be interesting to see what a regulated recreational cannabis system will look like in the near future.  Many kinks will have to be worked out, yet all of those kinks go towards creating a more beneficial industry.

If there is ever something for PR pros to keep watch of this summer (and beyond), it’s the recreational cannabis industry.  This is the year where you will see a lot of buzz going to pot (LITERALLY!).  Whether the publicity be good or bad, one thing’s for certain – cannabis is definitely the talk of the town around Massachusetts these days.

Happy Friday folks and don’t forget to hold onto your seats.  It’s about to get a LOT more interesting in July.

Summer Solstice Passage

Here we are, just one week after the beginning of summer solstice.  Summer is here, bringing in hotter temperatures all around Massachusetts.  Other than the increasing temperatures, one of the most intriguing phenomenon that happens during the summer revolves around the concept of day and night.

Image result for Summer Solstice

During the summer, days become longer while the nights are shorter.  There is more daylight happening outside than there is nighttime.  We are receiving more daylight during a 24-hour period.  While all of this is happening, the 24-hour time period remains the same.

We have the same number of hours each day, but the amount of daylight changes each season.  Here at summer solstice, the sun does not start heading down until around 8:00 p.m.  After that, the sky wanes closer into the night.  Even after our long day of summer, the sun still comes down after a while.  And yet, it is this image that creates this fascinating idea of days being longer.

We are not gaining more time in our life; rather, nature presents this intriguing illusion that there is still more time.  With more daylight means more time spent enjoying the day outdoors.  Whether it is a work errand or enjoying an entertaining concert, you are provided with what seems like ‘extra time’ but really a boost of overall mood.  Summer is a season to enjoy outdoors, especially after being cooped up during the bitter cold of winters.

While you’re enjoying a day at the beach or having another drink on the patio after work, just remember this – its all thanks to the summer solstice, with the sun shining longer than ever.

Canada Cannabis Legalization — Complete

Image result for Rainbows

With all of this talk of Pride month comes lots of discussions on rainbows.  Rainbows are amazing, a colorful bead of colors leading us to a better path at the end.  Pride month is drawing to a close as we head into the midsummer month; but remember that July 1st marks one thing – legal recreational cannabis dispensaries.

Massachusetts made it legal to consume and now the time is finally here to delve into the recreational industry.  It has been mere months since waiting for the recreational cannabis dispensaries to open.  This is the time to put this industry to the true test.

But an even BIGGER surprise happened across the north in Canada.  Just last week, Canada voted to legalize cannabis…NATIONWIDE.

By a vote, the Canadian Senate voted to legalize recreational cannabis.  What’s interesting to note is that Canada became the first G-20 country for legalizing cannabis use.  Canadians can now possess one ounce of weed in public. Oh, Canada!

You can expect to see retail markets operating in the fall.  Either way, this is a major hurdle for the cannabis industry in Canada.  Canadian citizens all across the country will have access to recreational cannabis.  This is sure to create some competition with other countries (most especially with the United States).

This is another major step for the cannabis industry.  Another country besides Uruguay legalized cannabis nationwide.  Legalized states are one thing, but legalized COUNTRIES become an even BIGGER achievement.  It’s like we snagged that ‘legalize in country’ trophy for our PS4 profile!

All video game imagery aside, this is a huge PR miracle for Canada.  Canadian citizens will have access to a full retail market rather than search through the black market.  Cutting out the black market is exactly what we need to showcase the product to its fullest extent.  THIS right here is how we make lemons into lemonade – legalize the product, its features, and even its service in order to create a thriving market for society.

We can create so much ideas and opportunities from this amazing plant; only thing is that we have to provide the freedom to operate in a more precise manner.  Canada is doing just that by legalizing cannabis nationwide.  Events like these are how we create more opportunity for the cannabis industry.

Kudos to Canada for legalizing cannabis.  You can expect to see the green rush starting in the fall this year.

Welcome back folks!  It’s the last full week of June and Summer is here.  Last full week of June means one last week of Pride month.  Many states are setting up their own pride parade, with rainbow flags flying higher than ever.

But it isn’t just the people themselves celebrating LGBTQ pride; many companies are pulling out their PR and marketing stunts as well.  Businesses are conducting tactics like changing their brand logo with a rainbow-colored background or giving public speeches acknowledging this special time of the year.  Whatever the case may be, it’s a perfect way to capture the oh-so colorful audiences of the LBGTQ community.

Some companies are going above the call of duty by adding endorsements into their strategy.  SKYY vodka recently just did that with the very special queen Trixie Mattel.

That’s right, RuPaul fans – Trixie Mattel is appearing in SKYY’s latest campaign.  This campaign is known as ‘Proudly American’, featuring diverse Americans from all walks of life.  The video itself features Brian Firkus transforming into the great Trixie Mattel.  Trixie Mattel joins LGBTQ members Dusty Ray Bottoms and Gus Kenworthy while sharing the iconic phrase ‘Home of the Brave’ during the ad.

This isn’t Trixie’s first stint with television.  RuPaul fans may remember Trixie Mattel from season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race and winning the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars.  She created the YouTube UNHhhh with Katya, which later became The Trixie & Katya Show on Viceland.

It’s the perfect PR strategy – feature a famous drag performer (Trixie Mattel) and mix her in with in with a famous vodka beverage like SKYY (which so HAPPENS to be brewed in San Francisco!).  Trixie Mattel was the perfect endorsement for SKYY vodka.  It was a great montage mixed in with her personal message to the audiences.

What you get in the end is an effective ad campaign celebrating Pride month.  Pride month has been the key phrase these past few weeks, so it’s best to take advantage of the opportunity as much as you can.
