Gronk Spikes Instagram

If you’re a Patriots fan, you know that Rob Gronkowski is one of the most well-known players of the team.  He’s one of the best tight end players with a flourishing brand name.  Some of his infamous PR stunts include endorsing Dunkin’ Donuts, creating a brand of frosted corn flakes named Gronk Flakes, and even posing for the camera with cuddly kittens.  Gronk fans can be excited for his newest social media venture: Instagram.

Gronkowski officially joined the Instagram bandwagon earlier this week and he doesn’t disappoint!  His first 1-minute video showcases his life during the off-season months.  The video includes clips of him working out at the gym, completing swimming exercises by the pool, getting a haircut, and even partying with his pals at the bar.

Rob Gronkowski was drafted into the New England Patriots in 2010.  He set the single-season record for most touchdowns by a tight end in the next year.

Other than Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski is one of the most entertaining players to follow.  His last entertaining stunt featured him and David Ortiz sing a country song about Dunkin’ Donuts Ice Coffee.  Gronkowski isn’t shy when it comes to making cameos for TV and films.  He appeared with wide-receiver Julian Edelman for the Entourage movie in June 3rd, 2015.  Besides his random cameos on the screen, Rob Gronkowski posed in a photo shoot with cuddly kittens back in December 2014.

It’s important to note that he isn’t just doing these appearances for a salary.  Gronkowski is a charitable player who co-created the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation, a charity he and his family created to host events and create concepts to generate funds for benefitting youth charities.  His next event will be The One Mission Buzz Off for Kids With Cancer where he will shave his head at Gillette Stadium to honor kids with cancer.  All proceeds will be donated toward kids fighting cancer.

With all of his entertaining campaigns, Rob Gronkowski would be considered social media gold in the public relations world.  Gronkowski’s brand as a Patriots player is constantly flourishing with each creative campaign he is endorsed in.  His ‘box of rocks’ personality makes him the most likable and positive person for the Patriots.

Anti-Hero Spotlight: The Punisher

Comic book series have given us many anti-heroes to read about, with one example being The Punisher.

The Punisher made his first appearance in issue #129 of Marvel’s The Amazing Spider-Man on February 1974.  He wears all black clothing with a white skull designed in the middle of his shirt, inspiring fear throughout the underworld.  His outfit consists of a black t-shirt, black hair, black boots, and carries some form of weapon by his side.

His alter ego is Frank Castle, a war veteran who returned home from the Vietnam War.  Frank Castle became a master of many skills including martial arts, guerilla warfare, stealth tactics, and other skillful weapons.  Castle’s wife and 2 children were killed by a mob during a shootout in New York City’s Central Park, which initiated his 1-man war on all mobs and criminals.

This violent vigilante has been portrayed in 3 films and one Netflix series in total.  He made his first film appearance in The Punisher, an American-Australian action film released in 1989.  Dolph Lundgren starred as Frank Castle/Punisher, setting the stage for the original back story behind the anti-hero.

Thomas Jane lead the starring role as The Punisher in the 2004 film The Punisher.  The film starred Thomas Jane as Frank Castle/The Punisher, John Travolta as Howard Saint, and Rebecca Romijn as Joan.  Fans of Thomas Jane know him as Ray Drecker in Hung and David Drayton in Stephen King’s The Mist.

A few years after the film’s release, Punisher: War Zone was released in 2008.  Punisher: War Zone is an American-German action film starring Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Julie Benz, and Colin Salmon.  Rather than serve as the sequel to The Punisher, Punisher: War Zone serves as a reboot that follows the original story on Frank Castle’s war on crime and corruption.

The latest installment of The Punisher was in season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil series on Netflix.  Jon Bernthal starred as Daredevil’s latest adversary who seeks out the man behind the mob hit in Central Park.

Frank Castle/The Punisher is one ruthless anti-hero who is obsessed with vengeance against his family’s murder.  After returning home from the Vietnam War, he became a changed man who sees the world in a different light.  He may be a sadistic vigilante, but he takes his violence out at criminals and members of the mob.  His traumatic past keeps him motivated to seek out revenge for his family’s death.

Life Lessons At 25 Years Old

Today I turned 25, making me a quarter century old.  My early 20’s have been interesting years filled with amazing adventures.  I have learned, gained, and lost many things in life as I got older.  There were even some hard lessons I got through while attending college.  In the long run, I truly figured out things about myself that I couldn’t learn in the classroom.

Being in your 20’s is an exciting time, but it can be scary at certain points.  I read about 5 important lessons that helped make my life less scary.  Here are 5 key lessons I took away during my early 20’s:

Lesson #1: Be weirder and less fake.  I was never someone who wanted to fit in with the crowd and I became friends who were just as weird as I was.  Making friends is about finding people who share common interests with you, not someone who you need to work hard to be friends with.  Enjoy the quirky hobbies/interests that make you happy in life and don’t be swayed at what people believe is popular.  Popularity may have been a deal breaker in high school, but none of that matters now as you get older.  For me, I never liked going to nightclubs and watching random douche-bags doing Jägermeister shots at the bar.  I could never see myself nightclubbing in the city, so it’s pointless to find friends when I have no interest in that type of environment.  A more suitable environment would be sipping brews around a bonfire in the beach as the sun goes down.  Now THAT’S what I call a great time!

Lesson #2: Experiment with your life.  Get out there and try new things once in a while!  I’m not saying to attempt anything dangerous, but you should search for new activities that you find interesting.  Whenever I would head into a new bar or restaurant, I noticed these unique beers I have never heard of that were crafted in micro-brewers.  Tasting these intriguing beers sparked my interest in craft beers around the country.  Not only did I discover a new hobby, but it also sparked a new activity with my new friends.  Get out there and look for something new that you have never done before; who knows, you might even find a new best friend through this new hobby of yours.

Lesson #3: Put yourself in uncomfortable situations.  Growing up means stepping out of your comfort zone and exploring the unknown.  As I got older, I learned to step farther out of my comfort zone to explore new things.  One example was attending various networking events while in Boston.  Boston hosts various events each night where professionals network with other professionals over drinks and small appetizers.  I wasn’t expecting anything big to come out of it, but I did want to meet new people.  Attending these social events turned out to be a great thing because I met new friends that I know will be there for me.

Comfort Zone

Lesson #4: It’s OK to be clueless about your life.  Admit it: you really DON’T know what you will be doing with your life after college is over.  That’s OK because everyone is on the same exact boat as you are.  I have talked with friends at Champlain College who recently graduated and they still have NO idea what they are doing with their degree.  Don’t feel so pressured to have your life figured out because plans always change.  Life is supposed to be lived, so enjoy the ride and take in every new adventure that it throws at you.

Lesson #5: Choose your friends wisely.  One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned was about choosing true friends in life.  I have lost a few childhood friends in my life and I distanced myself from these “friends” that never cared for any of my passions.  Your circle of friends gets shifted as you get older, which provides you the wonderful opportunity to meet new people.  Weeding out the bad friends motivates you to seek out better friends that share common interests in your life.  Find new friends that also ask you about your hobbies/passions in your life.  Always cherish the old friends that have always been there for you, but also make room for the new people.

These are 5 important lessons from me to you.  Your 20s are the most exciting time of your life.  Get outside and explore new adventures that are on the horizon!

Snoop Doggy Dogg In Plizzanet Earth

It’s safe to say that Snoop Doggy Dog wears many hats in the entertainment industry – he’s made it big in the rap game, appeared as a cameo in various TV shows in films, dipped his toes into the cannabis business, and he recently identified himself as ‘Snoop Lion’.  His latest project introduces fans to something that the internet community has been rallying for – hosting a nature show.

You heard me right folks, Snoop Dogg is currently hosting his own nature show on YouTube.  The idea sparked after Snoop’s “Plizzanet Earth” video went viral.  Plizzanet Earth was a segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live that featured Snoop Dogg narrating video clips of animals in the wild.  Shortly after the segments aired, a petition was created for him to narrate a whole season of Planet Earth.

Over 60,000 fans signed the petition shortly after the concept was created.  After the petition was complete, Snoop Dogg launched his nature program “Planet Snoop” on his YouTube Channel Merry Jane.  The first video was titled “Squirrel vs. Snake”, a 90 second clip involving a squirrel getting into a quarrel with a snake.

Snoop Dogg is a well-respected brand in the entertainment business.  He is also very public about his cannabis use, getting highly involved in the industry.  Last year he created Merry Jane, a digital media business site focusing on news surrounding the cannabis culture.  Merry Jane features a store that gives profits back to pro-cannabis non-profit organizations, selling items such as t-shirts, hats, belts, lighters, and other accessories.

Snoop Dogg is also a minor investor of Eaze, a California-based cannabis delivery start-up that promises all delivery in less than 10 minutes.  He is also the founder of Leafs by Snoop – a mainstream cannabis brand providing flowers, edibles and concentrates for their customers.  His other digital venture is a personal app called Snoopify, a software that allows users to alter photos of Snoop’s face.  The app generated commercial success, raking in $30,000 in weekly sales.

From what we have seen, Snoop Dogg’s brand can be seen everywhere in the world of entertainment.  He is well respected by his fans and he constantly raises his brand awareness through more cameos within television shows or movies.  His comedic PR stunts helped flourish his brand each year and Planet Snoop will help him gain more popularity in the internet realm.

Daredevil Season 2

My newest Netflix binge craze is the new season of Daredevil.  Marvel Television and ABC Studios released the second season on March 18th.   Daredevil tells the infamous tell of blind lawyer Matt Murdock who fights crime at night in the city of Hell’s Kitchen.  13 episodes were released for the second season of the series.

Before turning into a Netflix series, Daredevil was released as a film back in 2003.  Daredevil the movie starred Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Jennifer Gardner as Elektra, Jon Favreau as Foggy Nelson, Colin Farrell as Bullseye, and Michael Clarke Duncan as Wilson Fisk.  Both the film and Netflix series follow through with the same characteristics for each person in the series.

Netflix’s Daredevil cast new slew of characters including Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Jon Bernthal, and Éloide Yung.  Fans will recognize Deborah Anne Woll as Jessica Hamby from HBO’s True Blood.  Anyone familiar with the Mighty Ducks trilogy will recognize Eleden Henson as Fulton Reed.  Before starring as Frank Castle/The Punisher for Marvel’s latest season of Daredevil, Jon Bernthal starred as Shane Walsh on The Walking Dead.

The 2nd season of Daredevil picks off after Wilson Fisk’s arrest, with the Nelson and Murdock firm enjoying their newfound fame in Hell’s Kitchen.  We deal with a whole new assailant that arrives, shooting Daredevil at point blank range off a rooftop building.  The Punisher is fully introduced in episode 2, taking out multiple gang members along the way.  Other than The Punisher, we meet Matt Murdock’s ex-girlfriend Elektra Natchios midway through the season.

Elektra and Matt had an interesting history spanning ten years ago, where the bonded through shared observational skills and thrill-seeking adventures.  The duo meets with Roscoe Sweeney, the man responsible for ordering the death of Matt Murdock’s father.  Other minor characters we run from last season are Wilson Fisk and Stick.

Daredevil is an action-packed show filled with lots of violence, bloodshed, and fighting in the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.  What I really enjoyed most was watching the opening sequence before each episode.  It’s an incredible montage of infamous buildings in New York drenched in blood.  Viewing the bloody opening sequence will clue viewers into the dark tone of the series.  The dark lighting throughout the series really captures the overall tone of Daredevil.  Most scenes take place at night and the widows cast a dark-yellow glow through the buildings of New York City.

I have seen some memorable fights between Daredevil and the vicious gangs of enemies.  One of my favorite fight scenes was Daredevil taking out 15-20 Irish men in a span of 10 minutes on a flight of stairs.  One by one Daredevil knocked out each enemy as he went down from the building.

This season was incredible to watch.  An action-packed series full of vicious adversaries out for Daredevil’s blood.  Anyone who enjoys Superhero series should watch the newest season of Daredevil on Netflix.
