Happy Christmas Eve everyone!  Tomorrow is Christmas, so Santa Claus will be popping by for a visit.  I’m so pumped to be opening presents, checking out a good film, munching down on quality Chinese food, and spending time with the family.  Looking forward to seeing what Santa has to bring for us this year!

Since Santa’s coming by soon, its important to welcome him with his favorite treat – milk and cookies.  Leaving milk and cookies is a great way of saying ‘Thank you!’ to Kris Kringle.  A glass of warm milk and chocolate chip cookies will do well.

But here at MakeSandcastlesNotWar, we wanted to give a BIG thank you to Santa with a special treat – pot cookies and milk.  Cannabis has been legal for over a year now (for CA, MA, ME, and NV!), so people can leave Santa some tasty edibles during his visit to your house.  Who knows, Santa might even leave a cannabis treat for you as well!

If you want to leave Santa a REAL special treat this year, here’s how to make cannabis infused cookies and milk:

Cannabis-Infused Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Whole Milk or Cream (no skim or low-fat!)
  • 1/8 ounce (3.5 grams) of freshly grinded cannabis

Directions

  • Grind up your cannabis until it becomes a fine consistency
  • Place your cannabis and milk together in the saucepan
  • Heat up the mixture on low heat for about 45 minutes. You must whisk constantly to prevent it from burning.  Leave it boiling and don’t ever let it boil.
  • Remove it from the heat and allow the cannabis milk to cool for 5 minutes.
  • Strain the milk through the cheesecloth at least once to remove the plant matter.

There’s your milk.  Now it’s time for the cookies!

Chocolate Chip Pot Cookies

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Cannabutter
  • 1 1/3 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • ¼ cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups of chocolate chip

Directions

  • Preheat that oven to 375 degrees and grease the baking sheet
  • Mix up the Cannabutter, egg, and sugars into a large bowl
  • Mix the baking soda, flour, and salt in a separate bowl
  • Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture slowly. Stir all of the ingredients together
  • Form dough into 1-inch balls and place them at least two inches apart on the baking sheet
  • Bake cookies in oven for 10-12 minutes or until light brown
  • Cook on wire rack before serving.

And there you have it – pot cookies and milk for Santa.  Leave about one or two cookies for him (it’ll be MORE than enough!).

Well that’s all for today folks.  Have a Merry Christmas and I’ll be back again soon!

Hottest Video Games for Christmas 2017!

Image result for Super Nintendo

Video games were always on my Christmas list as a kid.  There was always one (or usually more!) games I really wanted every year.  Other than new video games, I even asked Santa for new video game consoles once in a while.  The Super Nintendo was the first gaming console I got for Christmas back in 1994.  After receiving that first video game console, the rest was history.

I’ve outgrown Christmas lists 23 years later, but video games continue to a hot item for the holidays.  With many new home gaming consoles to choose from (as well as Steam’s ever-growing digital library), the number of video game titles to add to your list is ENDLESS.

But thankfully enough, MakeSandcastlesNotWar is here to showcase some notable title to add for your Christmas list.  Here are some of the hottest titles to ask for Santa this year:

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Image result for the legend of zelda breath of the wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released alongside with the Nintendo Switch back in early March.  This new staple of The Legend of Zelda series follows Link after he awakens from a 100-year slumber.  A mysterious voice guides him to defeat Calamity Ganon before he destroys Hyrule Kingdom.  Legend of Zelda fans should definitely add The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to their Christmas list.

Cuphead

Indie games are still making waves in the video game industry and Cuphead certainly proves it.  Cuphead takes players through a series of bosses to pay off a debt to the devil.  Players wander through this 1930s rubber hose style of cartoon animation (think old Walt Disney Animation cartoons with LSD!).  This vivid, yet challenging game will keep you playing for me.  Be sure to add Cuphead to your indie game library this Christmas.

Super Mario Odyssey

Mario is out with another one of his games this year with Super Mario Odyssey.  Join Mario on the newest 3D platform-adventure game where you save Princess Peach from marrying Bowser.  Players can enjoy using Cappy, a spirit that possesses Mario’s hat and allows him to take control of characters and objects.  Make sure you add Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch to check out Mario’s latest adventure!

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix

Kingdom Hearts fans will have to wait until next year for the third chapter of the franchise, but they can relieve the previous chapters with Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix for the PS4.  Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix combines six different Kingdom Hearts titles with updated HD graphics.  These games showcase the story leading up to the third title where Sora, Donald, Goofy, and others must thwart Master Xehanort’s plan of igniting a second Keyblade War.  Add this Kingdom Hearts bundle if you can’t wait until the third chapter of the series.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

Image result for mario + rabbids kingdom battle

Mario and Rabbids may seem like two different franchises, but the two actually mix well together.  Nintendo and Ubisoft combined their franchised characters for Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.  You play through a turn-based tactical role-playing adventure where Mario and his friends (Luigi, Yoshi, and Princess Peach) battle against the hoard of Rabbids invading the Kingdom.  If you’re looking for a wackier game from the Mario series, then Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is definitely a game to add for your list.

That’s some of the many hot gaming titles to check out for Christmas this year.  If you’ve been a good boy/girl this year, then you’ll definitely earn your desired games from Santa Claus.  Happy Gaming!

Christmas-Themed Cannabis!

You guys…we have just ONE week left till Christmas.  Christmas time will be here, just SEVEN days later!  I’ve been so busy dealing with the cold weather that I hardly had time to realize that Christmas is right around the corner.

Luckily for me, I DID remember my Christmas-themed posts for MakeSandcastlesNotWar.  I haven’t been looking into any PR miracles or nightmares that have happened lately (being that I’ve been getting my Christmas shopping done!).  Rather than bog you down with bad PR nightmares, its time to get some festive topics underway.

One of the most important products of Christmas is the Christmas Tree.  Every year, Americans go out and pick a pine tree to hang up in their house.  This huge pine tree gets decorated with lights, popcorn strings, ornaments, a tree skirt, a star, and other accessories.  Once the tree is fully decorated, its time to light it up when night time comes.

But that’s not the only tree that lights up during the Christmas season. 4/20-friendly users (like myself!) look forward to lighting up cannabis trees for the holidays.  Cannabis goes perfect for every holiday; not only is it great for celebrating, but it make for an amazing Christmas gift (FYI, it’s legal to send cannabis as a gift here in MA!).

With Christmas coming up in just ONE week, its time we discuss which cannabis trees to light up this year.  Here are some cannabis strains that would go perfect for your Christmas celebration:

Jack Frost

Our first cannabis strain reminded me of the 1998 Christmas comedy-drama film with Michael Keaton as the snowman.  Jack Frost is a sativa-dominant hybrid strain that features an earthy, pine smell.  This strain will keep you happy and euphoric during the winter season.  Its been known to have THC content up to 22.6%.  I recommend Jack Frost (both the 1998 film and strain!) for this year’s Christmas season.

Sweet Tooth

You devour a lot of cookies, candies, and other sweets during Christmas.  It’s the perfect time to feed your inner sweet tooth.  Sweet Tooth is another cannabis strain that should be a part of your Christmas season.  This indica strain contains a sweet aroma of berries and flowers.  It provides uplifting and euphoric effects that’ll help combat stress during those holiday blues.  Consume some Sweet Tooth cannabis while feeding your sweet tooth with treats this year.

Hawaiian Snow

It’s like that how that Bing Crosby song goes – ‘Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day’.  Even if you’re not celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, Hawaiian Snow will still have you saying ‘Mele Kalikimaka!’.  Hawaiian Snow is a trifecta of the haze genetics (Pure Haze, Neville’s Haze, and Hawaiian Haze) and features intense spicy-incense aroma.  Consuming Hawaiian Snow will produce a stimulating head buzz perfect creative endeavors and social interactions.  Some users have been left with an overwhelming case of the giggles, which will help make your Christmas season much more cheerful!

Christmas OG

Image result for christmas og strain

Yes folks – even CHRISTMAS has its own cannabis strain.  Christmas OG is the pine-flavored hybrid strain known to relieve pain and insomnia.  This indica-dominant hybrid will make you sleepy, so be sure to consume it at night (especially before Christmas!).  Consume some Christmas OG trees while decorating that beautiful Christmas tree.

Sugar Plum

Sugar plum fairies dance around your head at night while you drift off to sleep.  The sativa-dominant strain Sugar Plum won’t help you drift off quickly, but will drift you off to a euphoric state.  It contains an earthy and tropical flavor, producing long-lasting cerebral effects.  You’ll feel relaxed for the Christmas season after consuming some sugar plum cannabis.

That’s it for some recommended cannabis strains for Christmas.  If you’re looking for a more festive Christmas season, then check out these Christmas-themed cannabis strains.  You (and the tree!) will be real LIT this year.

What’s up folks?  Christmas is less than two weeks away, so we got some more holiday-themed posts coming soon.  It already snowed in Massachusetts and the temperature is already dropping.  Looks it’s safe to that we must brace ourselves because winter is coming (Game of Thrones reference FTW!).

With Christmas just around the corner, there’s nothing better than turning on the Christmas songs.  Christmas classics like ‘Jingle Bells’ or Frosty the Snowman’ always lift my spirits during the season.  As I got older, I shied away from the traditional classics and aimed for some unique albums.

Some albums came from pop culture while others were from my favorite type of music.  Whatever the case may be, each Christmas-themed album takes me back to a better time.  It’s time I discussed some of my favorite Christmas albums I discovered over the years.

Here are some original Christmas albums to check out this year:

Jingle All the Way – Béla Fleck and the Flecktones

Image result for bela fleck and the flecktones jingle all the way

The first album featured was one I discovered weeks ago during one my writing seshes.  The progress jazz-bluegrass band from Nashville, Tennessee released this Christmas album on September 20th, 2008.  With classics like Silent night and a bluegrass take on Guaraldi’s track ‘Linus and Lucy’, fans will be sure to have a rocking Christmas rocking out to some Béla Fleck and the Flecktones.  Be sure to add this to your music library if you want to add some country flair to your Christmas if you want to have a rootin-tootin good time!

A Very She & Him Christmas – She and Him

Image result for a very she & him christmas

Shifting away from the country side and we enter the hipster group that is She and Him (who consists of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward).  Deschanel and M. Ward band together to create their first Christmas albums A Very She & Him Christmas.  The duo band together to sing notable tracks like ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’.  Hipsters who are looking for more underrated and trending Christmas albums should check out A Very She & Him Christmas this year.

A Charlie Brown Christmas – Vince Guaraldi

Vince Guaraldi’s A Charlie Brown Christmas features Christmas classic with a kick of jazz.  I love watching A Charlie Brown Christmas every year and this soundtrack complements the TV special so well. Some tunes are just instrumental jazz while others feature chorus from the Peanuts gang (like ‘Christmas Time is Here’).  This is one soundtrack you should listen to multiple times for Christmas.

Songs for Christmas – Sufjan Stevens

Image result for sufjan stevens christmas albums

Another indie artist that released a Christmas-themed album is Sufjan Stevens.  Sufjan Stevens released Songs for Christmas back in November 21st, 2006, a five-EP boxset featuring Christmas songs and carols recorded by him between 2001-2006.  The boxset contains over two hours of tracks, so you’ll never run out of Christmas goodness.  Check out Songs for Christmas is you’re looking for a boxset jam-packed with Christmas tunes!

Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas Soundtrack

Image result for Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas

For the final album pick, I have to bring out the soundtrack to Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  This classic story (and I mean the ANIMATED version, NOT the cheesy live-action film!) of the Grinch finding the true meaning of Christmas has always been my favorite Christmas special.  The song ‘You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch’ provides lengthy and wordy description of how horrendous he truly is (I STILL wouldn’t touch him with a 39 & ½ foot pole!).  If you love the story of The Grinch, then you’ll love this Christmas album.

That’s it for my choice of Christmas albums this year.  Some featured cartoons, while others had a notorious hipster duo.  Whatever the case may be, Christmas songs will live on forever.  Music styles are changing, yet the traditional tunes of Christmas stay the same.  Who knows what new Christmas album will be released next.

Until then, check back for more Christmas goodness here at MakeSandcastlesNotWar.  Merry Christmas everyone!
