MakeSandcastlesNotWar Meme Introduction

Image result for horace walpole quotes

Hello folks!  It’s time to introduce something a little different for MakeSandcastlesNotWar.  Over the past few years, there have been daily quotes during the weekends.  These quotes can be inspiring, showcasing a new way of thinking about the world around us.  As mesmerizing as some of these ideas may be, I figured it was time to add a spark of entertainment with the mix.

Instead of the daily inspiring quotes on the weekends, MakeSandcastlesNotWar will start implementing its own memes.

What exactly is a meme?  A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a particular culture.  These memes are usually spread humorous images, videos, or even pieces of text that is often copied and spread rapidly by internet users.

Memes have been spreading around the internet for decades.  They stem from certain moments of pop culture such as television, movies, literature, music, fashion, and other areas of entertainment.  With each new entertainment release comes forms of memes that audiences make based on their favorite element.

Each week, MakeSandcastlesNotWar will create its own memes that will be incorporated with one or more topics that was recently discussed.  Whether it be a TV series or a recent PR nightmare, these memes will bring us a little closer to the main idea.  The memes first kicked off last Friday.

Every now and then there may be quote in place on a certain day.  Better yet, there could be a meme ON the quote recently posted!

Creative Restaurant/Bar Philosophy

Lately we have been traveling back through nostalgic times with these latest posts here at MakeSandcastlesNotWar.  First there was the reboot of Rocko’s Modern Life on Netflix.  Then there was that amazing new poster that recently came out for American Horror Story: 1984 (which resembled something of a VHS cover for a horror movie).  It’s always great to see new content that is generated from historic ideas.

But those ideas aren’t just happening for the latest TV series.  Restaurants, bars, and nightclubs all across the nation have be getting really creative these days when it comes to staying in business.  In an ever-changing digital world, keeping their audiences drawing into their businesses is more competitive.

Restaurants are known for having a short life span, some of them closing within the first year of being in business.  A lot goes on in keeping a place afloat in the restaurant industry.  There also has to be something more for something simple as serving hot-cooked food and cold drinks.

This is where the entertainment aspect comes into play.  These establishments will feature arcade and video games to play.  Not only that, but they will have events like ‘Free Game Friday’ or ‘Half-Off appetizers Monday 5-8 PM’.  It’s these types of events that will have audiences not only come on a busier time (Friday/Saturday), but also on the slower days (like Monday.).

It’s not just video games being the main element that drives in audiences.  Some establishments offer karaoke or trivia night.  Others get even real creative with ideas like drag bingo.  Better yet, some bars have porn playing in the background (which is a REAL thing!).

Whatever outrageous idea bars have these days, there is this – it’s an intriguing idea that distinguishes themselves from the competition.  One bar offers video game nights on Tuesdays while another one is playing porn on the big screen (which is, again, a REAL THING).  In an ever-increasing, competitive market within the hospitality industry, businesses must work harder to stay afloat.  They have to learn to handle the heat, both inside and outside of the kitchen.

Phish at Phenway 7/6 Setlist

After my fun little mini vacation I had this past week, I am now rejuvenated and energized for the next string of posts here at MakeSandcastlesNotWar.  It was a great 4th of July week with great food, cold craft beers, and amazing firework shows.

This past weekend I got to see Phish at historic Fenway Park in Boston (#PhishatPhenway).  Phish played  Friday and Saturday of last week, with thousands of people jamming to some killer tunes out on the baseball field.  Trey, Mike, Page, and Jon rocked the park here in the city.

Their setlist for Saturday was absolutely amazing.  SO amazing that its time to reveal the highlights and where some of the best tunes originated from.

Here’s the recap of the setlist of Phish at Phenway on Saturday July 6th:

Pride month has been showcased all around mainstream media the past few weeks.  Companies from television, movies, literature, social media, and fashion are a few of many entertainment outlets that are showing their true pride colors.  Just recently, pride was utilized in the newest installment for Animal Crossing.

Nintendo made the announcement last week that Animal Crossing: New Horizons would feature gender-neutral hairstyles and various skin tones for customizing your characters.  Players will have a lot of flexible options to choose from for skin tones as well as hairstyles.  Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to release on March 20th, 2020.

If you are already waiting impatiently for Animal Crossing: New Horizons to come out for the Nintendo Switch, then there is something that’s just as amazing out on the internet now.  There is a site out there that plays hourly Animal Crossing music based on the EXACT time you have now.

The idea is simple – this site detects your local time and plays an Animal Crossing tune that matches up with the one from the game.  You can choose from the three game options: Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Animal Crossing: Wild World/Animal Crossing: City Folk.  This site can be found at http://tane.us/ac/.  All of three game title options play music from the time you have now.

This a really simple, yet genius idea.  It’s a basic idea of creating a website featuring Animal Crossing music that syncs up with real time.  With that, the idea makes for an entertaining site to use at work.  Even if you have never played any of the Animal Crossing series, the music is still relaxing to listen to.

With that, the animal crossing music site is worth checking out.  Whether you want some new music to listen to during a major project or for something during your leisure time, this site features great Animal Crossing music.  It works at any time, both day and night.

Check out http://tane.us/ac/ to have some Animal Crossing into your daily routine.
