Netflix May 2016 Releases



With April showers come the May flowers.  What does the month of May bring?  A whole list of movies and TV shows coming out on Netflix!  The month of May brings us a few new original Netflix series, new TV seasons, and some great flicks to watch on a Saturday night.  Here are some highlights for this month’s Netflix releases to look forward to.

Sixteen Candles: It’s the classic John Hughes’s 80s love story – Molly Ringwald stars as Samantha Baker, a high schooler who struggles through her 16th birthday because her family is preoccupied with Ginny’s wedding.  She falls for Jake Ryan, the popular and attractive senior in her high school.  A geeky freshman named Ted (Anthony Michael Hall) works his magic to try to get into bed with Sam.  This John Hughes’s classic comes out May 1st.


Marseille: After 25 years as being the mayor of Marseille, Robert Taro is about to enter a war of succession with his former protégé and turned rival Lucas Barres.  This historic French series will premiere worldwide on May 5th.


Grace & Frankie Season 2: Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin return for this Netflix original series about two women who were forced to live and support each other after a shocking divorce by their husbands Robert and Sol.  Grace works as a cosmetics mogul while Frankie is a hippie art teacher.  The dynamic duo will return for season 2 on May 6th.


Goosebumps: R.L. Stine’s classic children’s book series was released as a live action film on October 16th, 2015.  Jack Black stars as R.L. Stine, the father of the Stine family.  Dylan Minnette stars as Zachary “Zach” Cooper, a boy who meets his new neighbor Hannah (played by Odeya Rush) after moving to Madison, Delaware.  Check out this 90s fantasy horror comedy flick when it comes out on May 11th.


American Dad Season 10: Join the Smiths family in Langley Falls, Virginia for an all new season of American Dad!  Seth MacFarlane stars as Stan Smith, a bumbling CIA agent who goes through wacky adventures with his friends and family.  Fans of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show should definitely check out the 10th season on May 17th.


Lady Dynamite: This Netflix original series stars Maria Bamford in this mockumentary of her life.  Some guests stars who will make a cameo in the show include Patton Oswalt, Sarah Silverman, Dean Cain, Jon Cryer, and many other comedians.  Tune into Bamford’s comedic mockumentary when it premieres on May 20th.

Bloodline: It’s the family that aren’t bad people…but they did a bad thing.  Time to return to Florida to visit the Rayburn family in the aftermath of the “bad thing” they did earlier.  Most of the cast is retuning as their regular characters with John Leguizamo appearing next season as Ozzy Delveccio, a friend from Danny’s past. Netflix’s Bloodline season 2 will premiere on May 27th.
